Scholarships
In 2025, Ducks Unlimited (DU) awarded 61 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are members of DU. The scholarship program is open to all senior student members; however, it is targeted to volunteers who have shown an exceptional level of commitment to wetlands conservation through participation in their DU Varsity (high school) club/chapter and/or local DU community chapter. In addition, students must maintain a 2.8 or higher cumulative high school GPA to apply.
Each year, DU will award 61 one-time scholarships to eligible applicants at the following levels:
- 50 Varsity Scholarships at $500 each
- 10 Conservation Scholarships at $1,000 each
- 1 National Scholarship of $10,000
Applicants will provide their high school transcript, DU member/volunteer history, a list of any service or academic awards received, and up to three letters of recommendation highlighting their DU involvement and commitment to conservation. In addition, each applicant will write an essay of up to 500 words describing how his or her outdoor experiences have contributed to their understanding of the importance of wetlands and wetlands conservation, and the ways in which he or she has acted and/or intends to act on this knowledge.

Eligibility: The student must be at least a senior in high school and be in good standing with the school. The student must also be a legal resident of the state of Indiana and be enrolled in a construction technology program or a related construction field of study. Past recipients are eligible.
Criteria: Each student will be judged according to academic achievement, prior work experience in the area of construction technology, recommendations by faculty and employers and specific career objectives. Financial information from each candidate will be sought, but will be used only as a secondary basis when making a final judgment.
Selection: Applications must be submitted to the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. The announcement of the winning candidates will occur in the spring semester of the school year prior to that year which the student will be using the award.
The Hagan Scholarship
The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to achieve their goals and graduate college debt-free. Parents 2024 Adjusted Household Income must not have exceeded $125,000.
The scholarship provides $2,000 to help pay for essential items to attend college and up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. Free workshops, Free Schwab Brokerage Accounts, and Free Study Abroad provide recipients with a practical understanding of important life skills not typically covered in the school curriculum. Hagan Scholars have attended 769 colleges and universities located in 50 states and the District of Columbia, and have studied abroad in 64 countries.
Eligibility Criteria. No Exceptions.
1. Must attend a high school located in the United States.
2. Must be in the high school graduating class.
3. All students who meet the eligibility criteria can apply regardless of nationality or citizenship.
4. Must have achieved an unweighted 3.50 CGPA based on a 4.0 Grading Scale.
5. Must provide a current copy of the applicant’s High School Transcript.
6. Must provide an “unsealed” Letter of Recommendation. If an unsealed LOR is not available from an educator, provide from a non-educator.
7. Must enroll in an eligible four-year College or University the first fall semester following high school graduation.
8. The scholarship cannot be used to attend a community college, junior college, or online institution.
9. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule, or complete the equivalent of a four year degree if in a professional program.
10. Must work 240 hours from January 1, 2026 until September 1, 2026 to be eligible for a fall semester disbursement. Work must be regularly scheduled non-family employment performed under supervision for compensation. Employment can be full-time or part-time.
11. Parents Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2024 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $125,000.
12. U.S. Citizens selected as Finalists must provide the first two pages of their FAFSA Summary. The FAFSA Summary must show the SAI.
13. Non U.S. Citizens selected as Finalists must provide Proof of non-U.S. Citizenship. Copy of Foreign Passport or Green Card.
14. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible.

The William E. Dearden Foundation and The Hershey Company Continuing Education Scholarship was established in 2022 to honor the life and spirit of William E. Dearden, a distinguished and highly respected alumnus of Milton Hershey School (MHS) and former Chairman of the Board of The Hershey Company. From his graduation in 1940 to his death in 2003, Mr. Dearden was driven in all aspects of his life by his love for and indebtedness to Milton S. Hershey, founder of the Hershey Company and the Milton Hershey School. Mr. Dearden spent virtually his entire career at The Hershey Company working to repay his debt of gratitude for all they had provided him as a student and made possible for his future.
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist up to four graduating high school seniors who need additional financial support to obtain an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, apprenticeship, technical institute course of study, professional certification, or a professional license.

- Fill out an application and provide an original essay in 750 words or less, describing how Mr. Dearden's legacy and his journey from Milton Hershey School to leadership positions in the The Hershey Company resonate to you personally, and how it may relate to your personal journey and future goals for continuing your education or advancing your career.
- Provide at least one character reference or letter of support from a coach, teacher, guidance counselor, community member, or other adult beyond your parents who can speak to your character and career and/or educational goals.
- Applicants must be seniors and attend one of the following schools noted below in in Augusta County, Virginia, Luzerne, Pennsylvania and Boone, Clinton, Hendricks, Montgomery, and Hamilton Counties, Indiana.
- Applicants must be in good educational and moral standing with passing grades, good character, and recognized integrity.
- Applicants must be planning to participate an associate’s or bachelor’s, degree, apprenticeship, or other accredited continuing education opportunity.
- Recipients of the scholarship will be asked to submit a professional headshot and fill out a media release form.
- The deadline to submit complete application materials electronically is March 27, 2026 11:59 p.m. EST. or by mail (must be post-marked by March 27, 2026 11:59 p.m. EST).
Are you a passionate advocate for social change, and committed to building a better world for all? The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund (DPSF) awards scholarships up to $15,000 to undergraduate and graduate students who are active in social justice movements.
This scholarship opportunity is open to undocumented students. The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund states on their FAQ page that U.S. citizenship is not a requirement, “but applicants must have participated in activities in the United States and be planning to enroll in an accredited program in the US in order to apply.”
To be eligible for the Davis-Putter Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
– “You must have applied to or be currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program at either a college, university, or trade/technical school. If you are applying and have not made your decision by April 1, you must let DPSF know once you make your decision;”

2026 Shirley Martin Songwriting Scholarship
The Songwriters’ Association of Mid-North Indiana (SAMI) is accepting applications for the 2026 Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters, which includes the Mike Lane Horizon Award. The scholarship and awards are for songwriters aged 14 to 19, who live in any of these Indiana counties: Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren or White and are permanent residents of Indiana.
