WHAT IS PROJECT EXCEL?
Project Excel is designed to support academic success at Frankfort High School. Students that are selected for the program show a need for additional academic support. The main goal is to help students create a successful school experience by providing the tools needed to graduate with the necessary credits and skills to:
- Further education
- Obtain a work certification
- Secure a job and be a productive community member
WHAT ARE THE STUDENT GOALS IN PROJECT EXCEL?
- Get students on track and to stay on track to graduate from high school.
- Students will begin to understand what students want for their future after high school.
- Students will respectfully advocate for their academic success.
- Students will build growth mindsets to encourage learning and appreciate the struggle that sometimes occurs.
- Students will develop skills and habits of what it takes to be successful in school, life, and work even though sometimes growth is HARD.
- Students will have high expectations for themselves including good attendance and showing up to do the work.
HOW DOES PROJECT EXCEL BENEFIT STUDENTS?
- Work together to plan and organize weekly assignments
- Daily and weekly monitoring of assignments and grades
- Help students determine the best plan to complete assignments
- Relay information to other teachers and staff
- A safe place for students to talk about home or school issues.
- Connect students with people in the school and community for opportunities pre/post graduation
- Schedule changes
- Attendance compacts
- Parent conferences
- Extra time to complete work and get a credit
- Pull students for testing or work completion
- Go into students’ classrooms for academic support
HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE SUPPORTED?
Currently, there are 45 students from 9-11 grade in Project Excel.
