WHAT IS PROJECT EXCEL?

Project Excel is designed to support academic success at Frankfort High School. Students that are selected for the program show a need for additional academic support. The main goal is to help students create a successful school experience by providing the tools needed to graduate with the necessary credits and skills to:

  • Further education
  • Obtain a work certification
  • Secure a job and be a productive community member


WHAT ARE THE STUDENT GOALS IN PROJECT EXCEL?

  • Get students on track and to stay on track to graduate from high school.
  • Students will begin to understand what students want for their future after high school.
  • Students will respectfully advocate for their academic success.
  • Students will build growth mindsets to encourage learning and appreciate the struggle that sometimes occurs.
  •  
  • Students will develop skills and habits of what it takes to be successful in school, life, and work even though sometimes growth is HARD.
  • Students will have high expectations for themselves including good attendance and showing up to do the work.

HOW DOES PROJECT EXCEL BENEFIT STUDENTS?

  • Work together to plan and organize weekly assignments
    • Daily and weekly monitoring of assignments and grades
  • Help students determine the best plan to complete assignments
  • Relay information to other teachers and staff
  • A safe place for students to talk about home or school issues. 
  • Connect students with people in the school and community for opportunities pre/post graduation
  • Schedule changes
    • Attendance compacts
    • Parent conferences
    • Extra time to complete work and get a credit
  • Pull students for testing or work completion
  • Go into students’ classrooms for academic support



HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE SUPPORTED?

Currently, there are 45 students from 9-11 grade in Project Excel.
