DECA Qualifies for International Conference

Indiana DECA hosted the 73rd Annual Indiana DECA Career Development Conference in Downtown Indianapolis March 3-5, 2019.  Frankfort DECA had 17 high school students competing in various Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, and Hospitality Tourism events.
 
Whereas Frankfort DECA had many students make the stage to be recognized for their academic achievements, eight students have qualified for the International DECA Conference in Orlando, Florida, in late April.
 
The following students have qualified for international competition:
 
Itzel Garza (junior) - FIRST PLACE Start-Up Business Plan
Isaac Hunter (senior) - THIRD PLACE Personal Financial Literacy
Yaquelynn Pozos (senior) - 9th out of 700+ teams in the Central Region for Stock Market Game
Alicia Angeles (junior) & Jaimee Valdez (junior) - 12th out of 700+ teams in the Central Region for Stock Market Game
 
Frankfort DECA Chapter was recognized for receiving the international award, DECA Thrive Award, which qualifies Frankfort DECA Officers to attend a leadership academy in Orlando.  The following officers accepted this honor on behalf of the chapter:

The following students were recognized on stage at DECA State for success in their state competitive event:
 
Ivan Santos (sophomore) - FIFTH PLACE in Principles of Hospitality & Tourism
Oscar Sandoval (sophomore) - Competency Medallion Winner in Quick Serve Restaurant Management
Aliyah Ruiz (senior) - Competency Medallion Winner and FIRST PLACE medallion in the Restaurant and Food Service Management event role play: Information Management
Janet Martinez (junior) - Competency Medallion Winner in Restaurant and Food Service Management
 
The following students were recognized on stage for placing first in Indiana from the Round 1: DECA Virtual Business Challenge competition:

Benito Lopez & Christian Lopez (senior) - Restaurant Management
TJ Mooneyhan (senior) & Sam Wilson - Sports & Entertainment 
 
Additional Frankfort DECA state competitors included Diana Mora, Madison Myers, Lindsay Gay, MacKenzie Gonzalez-Garcia, and Camden Cesare.
